The Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MCASA) announces a one-day Neurobiology Training

Registration is now open for the Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MCASA) 2016 Neurobiology of Trauma training, with nationally known expert Dr. Jim Hopper. https://www.z2systems.com/neon/resource/mcasa/images/Dr_%20Jim%20Hopper(1).jpg Jim Hopper, Ph.D. is Clinical Instructor of Psychology at Cambridge Health Alliance and Harvard Medical School.  He is a nationally recognized expert in the areas of the neurobiology of trauma and male sexual assault and regularly advises and trains civilian and military investigators and prosecutors, victim advocates, university administrators and senior officers of the United States military services and Department of Defense.  He has served as a subject matter expert on neurobiology and the brain for the Office for Victims of Crime for its Sexual Assault Advocate/ Counselor training.  Dr. Hopper is also a founding board member and long-time advisor of 1in6 and has served on the Peace Corps Sexual Assault Advisory Council. For this training, Dr. Hopper will focus on the neurobiology of trauma.  His presentation explains the responses victims have to sexual violence and how fear and trauma shape memory.  This training is appropriate for sexual assault victim advocates and counselors, members of law enforcement, prosecutors, forensic nurse examiners (FNEs), and other allied professionals who work with survivors of sexual violence and are seeking more information about providing trauma informed responses.
