Hospital based crisis intervention and advocacy requires a unique set of skills, competencies, and dispositions. This advanced level training prepares advocates for working with survivors in a hospital setting during a Sexual Assault Forensic Exam (SAFE) by reviewing the importance of trauma informed care, highlighting SAFE specific advocacy skills, and discussing best practices. This training expands on the information provided during the Comprehensive Sexual Assault Victim Advocate Training to enhance the skills of advocates and ensure they are equipping themselves with preventative and responsive self-care strategies to avoid compassion fatigue, burn out, and vicarious trauma. Advocates can expect an interactive training, including participating in specific scenarios that are often encountered during hospital accompaniment, sharing their own learnings and best practices, and offering peer support.
