Virtual Campus Training Session #4: Recognizing and Responding to Stalking on College Campuses

Stalking is a prevalent, dangerous, and often misunderstood crime. In response to requests from Maryland Colleges and Universities, and the fact that individuals ages 18-24 experience the highest rate of stalking, MCASA will be hosting a webinar called Recognizing and Responding to Stalking on College Campuses, featuring guest speaker Dana Fleitman -- the Training & Awareness Specialist at the Stalking Prevention, Awareness, and Resource Center (SPARC). This webinar will explore the dynamics of stalking, including a focus on the highly contextual nature of this crime, by discussing common tactics used by perpetrators, stalking’s co-occurrence with domestic and sexual violence, and tools to plan for victim safety and hold offenders accountable.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be better able to:

  • Identify stalking behaviors and dynamics both on- and off-campus
  • Recognize the intersection of stalking, sexual assault, and other crimes
  • Apply strategies for working with victims of stalking

MCASA’s Virtual Campus Training Series addresses sexual violence prevention and response on campus with a survivor-centered focus. Join MCASA staff and guest speakers during this series as we explore important and trending topics impacting student sexual assault survivors.
